What We Do

We provide client service to support the needs of all employees in creating a balanced work environment. We also work closely with the unions in a variety of areas including facilitating a harmonious working relationship, dispute resolution and grievance and arbitration administration, collective agreement interpretation, labour negotiations, as well as ensuring that Lanark County’s mandate is met in terms of adhering to policies, practices, and regulations. The County’s unionized employees are represented by CUPE Local 2976, OPSEU Local 435 and ONA Local 137.

We coordinate all aspects of the recruitment process and work in partnership with hiring managers to ensure that candidates with the top qualifications, skills, knowledge, and abilities are selected.

We ensure that internal equity, market equity and Pay Equity are maintained. We assist with writing job descriptions and conducting performance evaluations.

We manage the employee health benefit program.

We administer the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) pension plan.

We coordinate corporate-wide training and encourage and promote professional growth through formal education programs, workshops, specialty training opportunities and special project participation.

We provide employee wellness initiatives to support and encourage employee wellness and work/life balance including administering such programs as the Alternate Work Arrangement (AWA) Program, Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) and Wellness Promotion Account (WPA).

Our Return to Work and Accommodation programs ensure established guidelines and legislation are closely followed for employees that need to return to work gradually or require accommodations. We also ensure that managers and employees are aware of their individual responsibilities within each of these critical areas.

We are committed to ensure the health and safety of all people associated with Lanark County’s business activities and provide a safe and healthy working environment. Protection of employees, the public and contractors from injury or occupational illness is an ongoing objective and is achieved by identifying and assessing risk and controlling all potential workplace hazards through a strong internal responsibility system.

We strategically maintain our human resource information system to suit our organizational needs through the input of all relevant employee data. We work closely with our clients to provide them with the specialized human resources reporting information required to meet their business needs. Using our Metrics Dashboard, we produce human resources metrics in a timely, consistent and efficient manner that allows for proactive response to identified trending concerns.
