Reduced Load Restrictions
Reduced load restrictions (5 tonnes per axle) are in force every spring on those County Roads that are posted with the appropriate signs. When the likelihood of road damage has diminished, load restrictions are lifted and the signs removed.
ATV Bylaw Amended
Council has authorized a bylaw amendment that regulates all-terrain vehicles (ATV) and off-road vehicles (ORV) on county roads. In June 2013, the county adopted a bylaw regarding specific ATVs on county roads, excluding Perth, Carleton Place and Almonte. As of July 1, 2015, amendments were made to the Highway Traffic Act Ontario Regulation 135-15 that allow for additional types of ORVs and ATVs that meet off-highway industry standards, including two-up ATVs, side-by-side ATVs and utility terrain vehicles. These additional types may now travel along permitted provincial highways and on municipal roads where a municipal bylaw exists to allow it. County roads within Perth, Carleton Place and Almonte continue to be restricted. Please CLICK HERE to view the new bylaw.
