Ambulance Services

The Lanark County Land Paramedic Service maintains acceptable emergency response times in accordance with the provincial Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care benchmarks. The Almonte General Hospital provides the service 24 hours a day. It operates base stations in Perth, Smiths Falls, Carleton Place and Almonte with nine ambulance vehicles and one emergency response vehicle. A vehicle replacement program exists to renew the fleet in a planned and cost-effective manner to ensure vehicles are in excellent condition to respond to an emergency.

On September 1, 2001, the County of Lanark assumed the responsibility for the provision of land paramedic services throughout its geographic area. The Almonte General Hospital provides the administrative, operational functions associated with the delivery of this service.

The County’s land paramedic service strives to provide rapid response to emergencies and a high level of pre-hospital care, meeting standards outlined in provincial legislation and regulations. Efforts to build partnerships with other emergency medical service and health-care providers, as well as to adapt to changing demographic and health-care demands and to improve the performance of the land paramedic system serving Lanark County, are among Lanark County Paramedic Service's main goals.
