Emergency Assistance
Requests for Emergency Assistance may be considered under Ontario Works (approval based on OW legislation for emergency assistance) or through one of our Housing Options programs. To apply, click on How to Apply for Ontario Works.
Emergency Assistance enables the immediate provision of financial assistance to an applicant in a crisis or emergency situation. The purpose of these programs is to assist individuals in maintaining their accommodation or energy source when faced with the possibility that their energy source may be turned off. Some examples that may be considered under one of our programs:
- Women fleeing an abusive relationship
- Homeless, avoid eviction, fire victim
- Avoid disconnection of heat/power source
- No immediate access to food
- Rent deposits (only when moving due to currently homeless, previous eviction or medical reasons)
